Richard Morrish Economist and Asset Manager
Richard Morrish started his career in the 1970s joining the London Stock Exchange where he did a five year training with a specialist Gilt Partner and learning his economics from two of the world's leading economists.
Richard trained in all asset classes during this period learning from experienced market professionals about all aspects of their relevant asset classes.
Richard then joined the LIFFE Market on its inception in 1982 where he covered the new futures products with a focus on the Gilt Market.
Richard worked for Grievson Grant and Co, one of the foremost Gilt specialist firms in the Gilt Market.
When Big Bang occurred in 1982, Richard joined County NatWest on their cash futures desk running the basis trading books. He also ran the hedging of the main books to ensure that they were not exposed to negative basis trading exposure. Richard also ran a prop book for the bank in the futures market.
In 1989, Richard moved to Continental Bank UK where he led the Brokerage division of Continental Bank as Managing Director of the Futures divison.
Richard moved to become a independent trader on the LIFFE floor acting for himself and also two US based Hedge Funds. His trading focus was primarily directed on the Italian Government Bonds, Bund and Gilt Markets.
When Floor trading ceased Richard set up two hedge funds in partnership with another hedge fund. One focused on Short term trading and the other on long term trading. Both had a Global Macro mandate with a long/short strategy.
In 2007, Richard moved to Switzerland to join MIG Bank where he assisted them in obtaining their Banking license and development of a professional research and product development.
Richard recently joined Peak Partners in setting up a short term focused close ended risk FX fund utilising his extensive trading expertise and his own unique trading systems.
Richard has been a regular contributor to CNBC in most
regions for the last Several Years and has also appeared on many
Regional television stations around the world discussing global
macro economics as well as Bloomberg TV.
Richard has had helped advise and report to many of the major
central banks.
Richard has lectured to audiences of 10 to 350 about how to
successfully trade and how to run a global macro hedge fund. Having
being taught by some of the best economists in the world, Richard’s
understand of economics and central banks actions are second to none
in the market place.
Richard also has his own proprietary method of technical analysis
which is based on Gann, Harmonics and intonation of pattering that
is very accurate to market predictions.
Richard predicted the late summer rally in US shares
(2009)
on the 17th
July predicting a high around the 1,095 level when the S&P was
trading at 925, a move of over sixteen percent when many other
commentators were calling for the markets to drop.
He predicted the 2008 high in oil at $147, the coming of the
financial market crisis in 2007. These are just some of multiple
amazing calls made. He also predicted the collapse of the stock
markets back in 2001 to the day in written reports to his brokers
and investors, moving out of equities in June 2001 and into the bond
markets.
He is a livery man and freeman of the City of London where he spent most of his 32 years of his financial markets career.
